Not Florida, Still Warm: Make the River Your Backyard This Winter
Thinking about where to park the RV this winter? You don't have to drive all the way to Florida.
Every year, snowbirds head south looking for warmer weather, and a lot of them drive right past Southeast Georgia on the way.
We think they're missing out.
We may not be as far south as Florida, but we still stay pretty warm during the winter. And instead of crowded resorts and bumper-to-bumper traffic, you get a quiet, peaceful spot right on the Ohoopee River.
Southeast Georgia Winters Stay Mild
Our average winter highs are in the low to mid 60s.
Most days you can still sit outside, walk the dog, stroll around the campground and enjoy a fire at night without bundling up in five layers. Hard freezes are rare here. We might see a couple of cold snaps a year, but for the most part, winter here is easy.
No shoveling snow. No scraping ice off the windshield. Just a slower, easier pace for the cold months.
Make the River Your Backyard
This is the part we love most.
The Ohoopee River runs right along the edge of the campground. Morning coffee with a view of the water. Afternoon walks with the sound of the river nearby. Quiet evenings by the campfire.
It's not a crowded snowbird resort. It's a peaceful place to settle in for the winter, and a place where your camping neighbors quickly become friends.
Quiet, But Close to Everything
Being out on the river doesn't mean being far from what you need.
Easy to get to: We're not far from the interstate, so getting in and out is simple.
Day trips: We sit almost right in the middle of Savannah and Macon, so both make an easy day trip.
Errands and dining: Nearby Vidalia has plenty of restaurants and a Walmart.
Peace of mind: Two hospitals are within 15 to 20 minutes, one in either direction.
