A Fall Day on the Ohoopee River

Summer gets the crowds, but fall might be the best time of year to be on the Ohoopee River.

The heat breaks. The mornings get cool and crisp. The campfire feels better, the river is peaceful and things slow down just enough to really enjoy being outside.

If you've only ever visited us in the summer, fall is a whole different experience.

So what does a fall day at Ohoopee River RV & Camp Resort look like? Here's how one might go.

A Fall Day on the River, Start to Finish

Morning: Coffee by the River

Grab a warm cup of coffee and head down to the water.

Early mornings on the Ohoopee are quiet. The only real noise is the birds, and trust us, they have plenty to say. It's the kind of morning that makes you forget to check your phone.

Midday: Get Out on the Water

Once the day warms up, it's time to get on the river.

Paddle the Ohoopee by kayak or spend some time out on the sandbar. Fall is a great time to paddle, with cooler temperatures and beautiful scenery along the way.

Kayak rentals are available by appointment and depend on river levels. They start at $40 per kayak, so give us a call ahead of time to set one up.

Afternoon: Drop a Line

The Ohoopee is a great fishing river.

Mr. Billy, who built this campground, likes to say you can catch anything in our river that you can catch in fresh water anywhere in Georgia (except trout). The most common catches are redbreast bream, bass and catfish.

Not much of a fisherman? Take the dog to the dog run, let the kids burn off some energy on the playground, or just pull up a chair and enjoy the fall weather. There's no schedule you have to keep.

Evening: Campfire Time

This is what fall camping is all about.

When the sun goes down and the air cools off, build a campfire, pull your chairs in close and settle in. Roast some marshmallows, tell some stories, and enjoy the night.

That's the whole plan, and it's a pretty good one.

Forgot Something? Stop by the Camp Store!

Our camp store has firewood and s'mores supplies, so you're covered for campfire night.

We also carry ice, snacks, frozen foods, camper parts and other fun stuff, so you don't have to leave the campground to grab what you need.

Don't Want to Stay the Night? Come for the Day!

You don't have to camp overnight to enjoy a fall day on the river.

A day pass is $15 per vehicle and covers up to five people. It's a great option for locals, families looking for something to do on a Saturday, or anyone who wants to see the campground before booking a stay.

Day pass guests can come in any time during office hours, Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM, and you're welcome to stay until dark. Just know that the gate closes at 5 PM, and there's no re-entry after that.

Got Our Mailer? Your Day Pass Is Free!

If our mailer showed up in your mailbox, don't toss it!

Bring it to the office Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM, for a free day pass. It's good for one vehicle and up to five people.

The offer expires October 31, so don't wait too long.

Make a Weekend of It!

If one day isn't enough (and it usually isn't), stay a while.

Our accommodations include:

RV Sites: Bring your home on wheels and enjoy fall on the river.

Tent Sites: Classic camping, and fall is the perfect weather for it.

Cabins: All the fun of the campground with a few more comforts of home.

Glamping: Enjoy the outdoors without having to pitch your own tent.

Come Enjoy Fall on the Ohoopee!

Cooler mornings, peaceful afternoons and campfire nights are waiting for you.
