First Time Camping? Start With a Tent Site
Never been camping? A tent site on the river is a great place to start.
Maybe you've always wanted to try it. Maybe the kids keep asking. Maybe you just want a weekend where the screens stay in your pocket.
Camping can feel like a big step if you've never done it. But it doesn't have to be hard.
At Ohoopee River RV & Camp Resort, our tent sites are set up to make your first trip simple. Here's what to expect.
What You Get With a Tent Site
A tent site is $25 a night or $150 a week. Here's what comes with it:
Water and electric at your site
A picnic table
Your own fire pit
Up to 5 guests and 2 tents per site
Camping with a bigger group? Each extra person is $5 a night, within the site's limits. Weekend and holiday minimums may apply, so check when you book.
Hammock Camper?
Good news. Hammock camping is possible here too.
One Thing to Know
Tent sites have electric, but it's meant for small things like charging phones and running a light. Please don't plug in AC units, space heaters or other high-draw appliances.
What to Pack for Your First Trip
You don't need to buy a bunch of gear. Start with the basics:
A tent big enough for everyone who's sleeping in it
Something comfortable to sleep on and pillows from home
Blankets or sleeping bags
Camp chairs for sitting around the fire
A flashlight or headlamp for walking to the bathhouse at night
A cooler and food for cooking at your site
An extension cord to reach your electric
Practice setting up your tent in the yard once before you leave. It saves a lot of frustration at dusk!
Forgot Something? No Problem!
Our camp store has ice, firewood, s'mores supplies, snacks, frozen foods and other items. If you forgot the marshmallows, you're covered.
Bathhouses Close By
We have two bathhouses with private bathrooms. You won't have to go far, and there's laundry on site if you stay longer.
Easy Things to Do
You don't need a plan. There's plenty to do without one.
Spend time at the river, with sandbars, swimming and fishing
Let the kids loose at the shaded playground
Play volleyball, basketball or horseshoes
Walk the trail
Light your fire pit once the sun goes down
Our quiet hours are 10 PM to 7 AM, so everyone gets a good night's sleep. Keep your fire in the fire pit, and keep pets on a leash.
