Eight days out, and we can already hear it.
Ohoopee Revival is coming to Ohoopee River RV & Camp Resort on Saturday, November 14. It’s our first annual Southern rock music festival, right here on the river in Lyons, Georgia.
We’ve talked a lot about tickets, camping and cornhole. Today, let’s talk about the reason you’re coming: the music.
Here’s a closer look at who’s taking the stage.
Jon Lee and the Apparitions
Jon Lee and the Apparitions come to us from Savannah, fronted by Jon Lee Murphy.
Their sound is Southern rock with a soul edge, in the spirit of Stax, Motown and the Allman Brothers. If you like a band that can make you dance and make you feel something in the same song, you’ll like these guys.
They’ve put out three albums:
Jon Lee and the Apparitions (2020)
Go Up to the Mountain (2024)
Next Town, released this past May
Give Next Town a listen before the show. It opens with “False Freedom,” and it’s a great place to start.
Bonnie Blue
Bonnie Blue is a Southern rock jam band from Jacksonville, Florida.
The band is Willis Gore and Bradley Churchman on guitar and vocals, Adam Kenneway on bass, David Silva on drums and vocals and Alex Sears on keys.
They’ve released two albums, No Lookin’ Back (2017) and No Time to Lose (2024). Along the way they’ve shared stages with Butch Trucks, John Popper and Bobby Lee Rodgers, and played festivals like Wanee, Magnolia Fest and Suwannee Rising.
If you love long jams and a band that clearly loves playing together, bring your dancing shoes.
The Restless Natives
Our headliner is The Restless Natives, Macon’s tribute to The Allman Brothers Band.
Formed in 2020, they focus on the “Original 6” era of the Allmans. They’ve played full-album tributes to At Fillmore East, Eat a Peach and Watkins Glen, and they’ve brought out special guests like David Goldflies, Randall Bramblett and Alvin Youngblood Hart.
They’ve headlined the Grand Opera House and the Capitol Theater in Macon. Now they’re headlining the river.
There’s no better way to end a day of Southern rock in Georgia than with the Allman Brothers sound.
