A Weekend at Ohoopee: Friday to Sunday

Wondering what a weekend at the river actually looks like?

Good news. You don't need much of a plan. That's kind of the point.

But if you like knowing what to expect, here's an easy weekend at Ohoopee River RV & Camp Resort, start to finish. Take what you like and skip the rest.

Friday: Arrive and Settle In

Check-In

Check-in is at 1 PM for RV sites, tent sites and Bare Canvas tents. For cabins and furnished glamping tents, check-in is 3 PM, though they may be ready as early as 1.

The office is open Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM. Arriving after hours? Give us a call ahead of time for the gate code and Wi-Fi info.

Remember, the speed limit is 5 MPH on every road. Slowing down is part of river time.

Set Up Camp

Get your site the way you like it. Hook up the RV, pitch the tent or drop your bags in the cabin or glamping tent.

Take a Walk

Once you're settled, stroll down to the river. See where the sandbars are and take a look at the river signs. Then let the kids burn off the drive at the playground.

Friday Night: Easy Supper and a Fire

Keep it simple. Cook at your site, then light your fire pit. Our camp store has firewood and s'mores supplies if you need them.

Saturday: Get Out on the River

Morning: Coffee and Quiet

Grab a cup and head down to the water. Mornings here are peaceful, and the birds do most of the talking.

Midday: Paddle or Fish

Time for the river. Take your pick.

  • Kayak: Rentals are by appointment and depend on river levels. They start at $40 per kayak, so call ahead.

  • Fish: Mr. Billy says you can catch just about anything in our river that you can catch in Georgia fresh water (except trout). Redbreast bream, bass and catfish are the most common.

  • Relax: Pull up a chair on a sandbar and do nothing at all.

Afternoon: Play

Walk the trail, play volleyball, basketball or horseshoes, or let the dog loose in the dog run. Need ice or snacks? Stop by the camp store.

Saturday Night: Campfire

This is the main event. Build a fire, roast some marshmallows and stay out as long as the stories last.

Quiet Hours

Quiet hours begin at 10 PM and run until 7 AM. Time to wind down the conversation and call it a night.

Sunday: Slow Morning, Easy Goodbye

Sleep in a little. Drink another cup of coffee. Check-out is at 11 AM, so you've got time for a slow breakfast and a last look at the river.

Before you go, make sure your fire is completely out and bag your trash for the dumpster near the exit gate. Leave your site the way you'd want to find it.

Choose Your Stay

RV Sites: Full-hookup, pull-through and ready when you are.

Tent Sites: Classic camping from $25 a night.

Cabins: Two-night minimum, with a few more comforts of home.

Glamping: A real bed, A/C and a fire pit outside your door.

Just Come Out for the Day?

Not able to stay the whole weekend? A day pass is $15 per vehicle for up to five people. Come in between 10 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Saturday, and stay until dark.
