Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 26. If your family would rather skip the crowded kitchen and spend the week outside, Ohoopee River RV & Camp Resort in Lyons, Georgia is a good place to do it.
Why camp for Thanksgiving
The river is still here in November. Winter highs in our area average in the low to mid 60s, and we only get a couple of freezes a year. That means no snow to shovel, no ice to scrape.
You can fish, walk the trail and sit by a fire in the evening. Kids can burn off energy on the playground, the volleyball and basketball courts and the horseshoe pits.
Where to stay
We have plenty of room for the holiday week, so come on down. RV sites, tent sites, cabins and glamping are all open for your family.
Cabins. All three have linens, a picnic table, fire pit, grill, heat and AC.
The Bird's Nest sleeps 2 with one queen bed. It has no bathroom or kitchen.
The Beaver Den sleeps 4 and was just remodeled. It has a full bathroom with a shower and a kitchenette with a stove and oven.
The Coyote Den sleeps 6 and was just remodeled. It has a full bathroom with a shower and a kitchen with a stove and oven.
If you plan to cook part of a holiday meal, the Beaver Den or Coyote Den gives you a real stove and oven. Pets are OK in the cabins with a refundable deposit.
RV sites. Every RV site is a pull-through with full hookups (water, electric and sewer) and 30/50 amp service. A standard site is $44 a night or $265 a week.
Tent sites. $25 a night, with water and electric.
Glamping. Our glamping tents will be heated for the season, and they have air conditioning too. They sleep 2 to 6 depending on the unit. No pets in glamping.
Planning a long weekend or a full week
You can book a few nights or the whole week. Weekly rates are listed on our site for each stay type. Our normal lodging minimums apply.
